KN95 respirators meet the Commercial KN95 standard GB 2626-2019. KN95 is an industry standard and means that the mask provides the intended effectiveness of filtering small particles at a rate of 95% or greater. KN95 have been tested and performed at 98% and higher Filtration Efficiency (FE) with particles of a mass median diameter of 0.3 micrometers. The KN95 mask can protect you well from PM10, PM2.5, and even smaller particles.
KN95 masks have been added to expand the availability of respirators during the pandemic. This includes respirators that are approved or certified under standards used in other countries that are similar to NIOSH-approved N95 respirators. Note that different countries may regulate surgical and commercial respirators differently than in North America so in these cases the masks are marked KN95 but are still very effective.
In many regions throughout Canada, people are required to wear face coverings when entering business, restaurants and other venues where people are expected to gather.
