Braber Equipment 16-1/2 lb 2-3/4″ ID Steel Fence Post Pounder Helpful Tips

  • Do not lift the post pounder off the fence post on your up swing as you can have the post pounder catch the top edge of the post on the way down and causing injury as it falls.
  • If you have someone holding the posts in position, make sure to mark off the lowest point on the post so your helper knows where to safely put their hands.
  • Some users recommend that as you drive the pounder downwards you let go or relax your grip before it pounder strikes the post to limit vibration impact stress on your hands.
  • If you are using non-manufactured posts make sure the diameter isn’t tapered and larger then the post pounder at its lowest striking point, as the fence post pounder will be very difficult to remove should the post be larger.
  • Use a post level to ensure your post is level, you can eye ball level to start but ensure to check level before you pound the post in too far as it will be difficult to correct if you go too far.  It is recommended that you check a few times as you drive the post, and if accuracy is important, it is great to have a helper check periodically to ensure your fence post remains level.
  • Once you have determined the height of your fence, mark each fence post at the bottom where you want to stop so you don’t have to keep checking the height with a tape measure.
